Special Reserve Edition

The Special Reserve Nomad & Osprey EDC feature handle scales crafted from reclaimed Colorado whiskey cask oak—a material with a history long before it ever became part of a knife.

I’ve wanted to make whiskey cask handle scales for quite some time, but I wanted to find the right material and, if possible, keep the story close to home. That led me to a local distillery right up the road from me here in Colorado, where I was able to purchase one of their retired whiskey casks.

This particular cask was used to age an American Single Malt giving the oak years of character before it ever made its way into my shop. I wanted to preserve that character while giving the scales an aesthetic that felt at home on these knives, so I gave the scales a little char with the torch, bringing a mix of light and dark coloration and highlighting the natural grain of the wood.

Every set of scales carries the character of a piece of Colorado whiskey-making history, making each knife in this batch a little different from the next.

I’m incredibly excited to finally bring this project to life, and I hope you enjoy these Special Reserve knives as much as I enjoyed making them.

Each knife comes with a kydex deep pocket sheath, you can upgrade to a leather pocket sheath here. 

Each one also comes with a serialized coin made from the same cask material as the handle scales. 

Handle material has been stabilized and a finish coating applied.
